I really love old movies and with the ecception of a select few, most of the movie stars that I love unfortunately lived and died before I was even born. But it doesn't bother me. My favorite TV station to watch is Turner Classic Movies and I often plan aside for films weeks, even months ahead of time, depending on who's starring in it. I wanted to share some of my favorite old stars with you.

James Stewart: I love Jimmy. i mean I LOVE Jimmy. He was a great actor with a great range of roles from musicals to westerns to screwball comedies. I first saw him in the 1950 comedy, Harvey, and have been a great fan of his ever since. I always thought he was handsome and very vaugely reminded me of MJ. I have seen 23 of Jimmy's films, my favorite of his being Hitchcock's Vertigo from 1958. He is one of the stars I really wish I could have met before he passed away in 1997.

Cary Grant: Come on, how can I talk about film stars without Mr. Dashing himself? I first saw Cary in The Philidelphia Story with Jimmy and Katherine Hepburn and I just thought he was handsome. I don't know what else to say other than Cary was a really, great looking man. And he was always so slick and so smooth and really came across as the kind of guy all the girls wanted to date.
Rudolph Valentino: He was the worlds first male screen sex symbol and lit up audiences in such great silents as The Four Horsemen of the Apocolypse and The Sheik. His untimely death at the age of 31 in 1926 caused millions of women to literally pack the streets in hysterics. I have only heard his voice ONCE in a very old recording in which he was singing. He's endearing to me because I just like him and he was handsome too.

Johnny Weismueller: He was the first man to play Tarzan in sound pictures and I watched all twelve of the Tarzan pictures he madeon TCM earlier this summer. He was an Olympic swimmer before he got into film and in nearly every Tarzan picture he was swimming or running around in a loin cloth. Wonderful--or "wunderbar" in German! LOL
Well that's just some of the stars I enjoy. There's plenty more and I'll share them in future posts!
